Thirteen blocks of the core downtown district underwent major revitalization, including utility upgrades, sidewalk paving, historic street lighting and landscaping. E. G. & G., Inc. directed the creation of a Special Improvement District (SID) to address issues of marketing and promotion of the central business district as well as maintenance of the new construction including sweeping the sidewalks and caring for the landscape plantings.
